What is EXIF Viewer?

The Pix2Doc EXIF Viewer reads the hidden metadata embedded inside your photos—camera make and model, exposure settings, GPS coordinates, date and time, and more—directly in your browser without uploading anything. EXIF data (Exchangeable Image File Format) is automatically recorded by cameras and smartphones. The GPS field in particular can expose the exact location where a photo was taken, making it a significant privacy risk when sharing images online. This tool also lets you strip all EXIF data from a photo by re-encoding it through the Canvas API, producing a clean image that reveals nothing about where or how it was shot.

Common Use Cases

  • Checking if a photo contains GPS data before posting it on social media
  • Verifying the camera and settings used for a competitor's product photo
  • Stripping EXIF from profile pictures for privacy
  • Auditing a batch of images before sharing with a client

How to Use EXIF Viewer

  1. Drop your photo

Drop a JPG photo (EXIF is primarily a JPEG feature). The metadata is parsed locally and displayed grouped by category.

  2. Review the metadata

Camera fields (make, model, ISO, shutter speed) and GPS fields are shown separately. GPS fields are flagged as a privacy risk.

  3. Strip all EXIF

Click 'Strip All EXIF Data & Download' to get a clean image with all metadata removed—safe to share online.
